BIO FOR RICK PENNOCK

In 1987, I started videotaping for the North Adams fire department and by 1988 created my first steps towards being the NAFD photographer. Having worked as the NAFD photographer for 7 years I finally worked my way up to providing photographs for The Department Of Public Safety Division. Working closer with the Fire Director on various projects I was able to take charge of all stored NAFD photographs, dating, cataloging, research, identifying photographs and historical items. I also work closely with various news agencies supplying photographic coverage and information of the NAFD in action. Other duties include publicizing the NAFD achievements maintaining the NAFD web site and working closely with the local paper, The North Adams Transcript supping photographs of events and incidents. In 1996, I started photography courses at the New York Institute of Photography and graduated in January 1998. Within four weeks, I was asked to join the correspondent crew of 1st Responder News, a monthly fire service related newspaper based out of Newburg, New York. I cover the fire news for the Northern Berkshire County Area as well as other events at our station. In 2002 I added studio work to my experiences by shooting clothing to be sold on Ebay. June 2003 brought me a chance to transfer to 1stResponders Georgia Edition, which is where my current position is. I am represented by Mike Heller of 911 Pictures stock agency of NY. I am toured with two photo shows. "Pull The Hook" and "Through The Lens" and was on the road through out 2005. Currently I live in Ray City Georgia with my wife Sara. I am assigned to fire station 61 Ray City Fire Department. I am a Firefighter Photographer. My job besides fire suppression is to work with the local media. I am in constant contact with The Berrien Press, Valdosta Daily Times, WALB News, FOX News and CNN. Thanks to The Valdosta Daily times and CNN my photographs have been seen worldwide. One of the greatest things about this job is to work with CNN when coverage when needed. Several programs I have put to light at RCFD are Firefighting Education, Storm Watch and Brush Fire Danger updated during the dry season. I have been working steadily at education the public to help them better understand how things work in the fire department. I am currently planning the "OUT OF CONTROL" tour 2010.
